Abstract

This research examines how students integrate AI tools into their writing processes and the implications for education and assessment. Based on a comprehensive analysis of 1,581 students and 8,720 AI interactions in academic writing, the study identifies four distinct engagement profiles and provides insights into the motivational factors that drive productive AI use in educational contexts.
